Comfort Zones… They’re meant to keep us safe. But from what?
From getting out and enjoying life? From experiencing new friendships, new adventures, deeper love, and more knowledge? That list could go on and on! Comfort zones are great… until we make it a bubble that no one can burst. Don’t let your comfort zone consumer you. Don’t let it become such a thick bubble that YOU can’t even pop it!

For about a year I have been praying for God to let me live boldly. Only recently did I realize that it had been happening… and when I say it had been happening, I mean it happened the second I asked Him for it! haha Since then, fear hasn’t been the only thing on my mind, insecurities aren’t consuming me, and life is finally getting yummy! When I say yummy… I mean REALLY yummy!
I hated walking into spaces alone, but yet I joined a new church and attended even when Link couldn’t go. I even talked to strangers that stood in a circle of friends. I busted my way in and said “Sup peeps!?” (JK I didn’t do it so dramatically)
I joined The Hatch Tribe and attended events ALL BY MYSELF! I went to freaking networking events. I deserve those bragging rights! Before each event I sat in my car praying that God would give me a bold personality so I could talk to those awesome women!
I joined The Works! I said “so what that I’m not a rich woman wearing Lululemon?!” I can sweat it out with them in my 4 year old Victoria’s Secret gear that I got on an employee discount. And sweat I did! And guess what I realized? None of those women care that I’m not in Lululemon! haha Isn’t it so silly that we created these thoughts in our head for other people?
I’m staying in a freaking tent in Utah on a yoga and wellness retreat in a few short weeks! I’ve been doing yoga for like 2 months. I don’t know all the poses, I don’t know all the terms… yet I’m showing up! The flights have been arranged! The car with 4 strangers has been booked!

Comfort zones are important, but don’t let them chain you down. This is not a “typical” millennial post saying “drop it all! Go on adventure! Quit your job! The money will just appear!” And I’m also not saying you need to drive across country with a hitchhiker! I just want to give you a gentle nudge. Think about what you’ve been dreaming of but you’re afraid to do it. Are you afraid to get into the workout class? Are you afraid to talk to people at your gym? Are you afraid to ask a new friend out for drinks cause you think they’ll “be busy”? Just think… what’s the worst that could happen? No one is going to punch you in the face for showing up or saying hello! And I bet that new friend really is busy and she isn’t actually blowing you off.
I’m not saying you need to drive across country with a hitchhiker!
Now me dear friend, what comfort zone do you need to get out of? What fear do you need to pound in the dirt? Do you need to pop that big bubble? Meditate on it. Pray about it. Release the fear, release the chains, and live the life that God created for you!
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10
