Advertisements today are full of fake images and false identities. Women are told to be skinny, and to have long silky hair. They are told to have curves, but not have cellulite or stretch marks. Fake bodies have become the ideal bodies. These ideal bodies are impossible to achieve in a happy and healthy manner. I feel that these unrealistic representations of women in commercial photography are responsible for insecurities in many women.
My photographs document real people and focus on capturing what they would consider to be their biggest “flaw.” Many verses in the Bible have helped my models to remember that God intentionally created us to be unique. We are fearfully and wonderfully made and we should not mistake our unique beauty for a flaw.I hope that these images will help women to gain confidence and to see that God created us as beautiful works of art.
